Microchip is a microchip slightly smaller than a grain of rice that is placed under the skin of dogs and cats (usually placed on the back of the neck). Microchip implantation is painless for dogs and cats, taking only about 5 seconds for a chip implantation. Each Microchip contains a series of 15 characters and this series of characters is unique, cannot be duplicated with any other Microchip in the world. Microchip only contains the above 15-character series of numbers to create a way to identify this dog from another dog by reading the chip number of each dog.
